Most Embarrassing Moment You're willing to Share: The time I was shocked in the mouth from a microphone and screamed through the P.A.

If I couldn't be a musician for a living I'd like to: Be a social worker of some kind.

Describe a life changing moment: I was in third grade at school and I had the most eye opening moment ever, even to this day.   It sounds silly but through events that happened I came to a realization that not everyone loved me.   Until that day I never felt the need to be defensive about anything, because I truly believed everyone on earth loved me and was looking out for me.

Musical Journey: When I was in sixth grade I had a girlfriend named Krista that lived around the block from me.  On the last day of school Krista threw a dance party and for the first time in this 6th grade style relationship I went to her house.  Her father had the walls in one of the rooms decorated with vintage guitars hanging from the walls.  I didn't know they were vintage at the time I just thought they looked really freakin cool.  I never saw Krista's dad that night, but I never forgot what I felt when I saw all those guitars.
A few months into summer I still had those guitars tattooed into my brain.  I hadn't seen or talked to Krista since the night of the party, but I decided I would rekindle our neglected relationship for the soul purpose of getting closer to those guitars!
I knocked on the door and waited for a long time before someone slowly answered the door.  A man I had never seen before stood there looking at me like I was a retard and I said. "Is Krista home?"  He kinda got an irritated look on his face and said  "me and her mom got a divorce…  she don't live here anymore."
He shut the door in my face.   I knocked again and this time I said "Look sir…  I don't really want to see her. I was wondering if I could see some of your guitars and if you can show me a little bit about them."
His name was Roy and that day was the beginning of my musical journey.
Roy was a great guitar player with great insight and knowledge of true American music, but what he wasn't was a teacher.  Maybe I was to bug eyed and A.D.D. or maybe he was too grouchy, but it wasn't working.
He decided to help me develop good musical taste rather than teach me how to play guitar.  He brought me to a room that was filled waist high with records and asked if I had a record player.  I said I did even though I didn't and we worked out the deal of a lifetime.  He would send me home with 3 to 4 records and at the end of the week I would come back to exchange them for others.
For the next 6 years I would go to exchange records at Roy's every week.  One week I would have Gatemouth Brown, Queen, The Blasters and an Elvis record.  The next week I might have Robert Gordon, Steely Dan, Otis Redding and Smokey Robinson.
This is the single most important experience of my musical development.  Hope you enjoyed.
